Launched in 2009, One Night Band is a day-long music experiment in which 40 selected Boston musicians are randomly shuffled into bands of five on a Saturday morning. These newly formed bands must prepare a four-song set (including one cover) to play that night in front of an audience at legendary Cambridge rock club the Middle East. The event is produced by Boston Band Crush, a local blog covering Boston music.

All proceeds from the 2011 event will again benefit ZUMIX, a local youth music program whose mission is “Empowered youth, who use music to make strong positive change in their lives, their communities, and the world.”

Combining the brilliant local rock scene of Boston with a healthy dose of nostalgia, Nate Rogers and Boston Band Crush present MIXTAPE, Boston’s newest musical series, wherein the bands of greater Boston pay tribute not to an individual band or artist but to a full and complete year of music.
